This is the second of my tunes attempting to fit in with a traditional Irish style. The previous one, the Wren’s Jig, was inspired by my daughter Erin, and this one is inspired by my son Alfie.

It’s a reel, but it works better played more slowly than a traditional reel I think, so I’ve called it the Sandman’s Reel, to invoke the slow magic of bedtime. I love doing bedtime with the kids, it’s a time of storytelling and fairytale, on the cusp of dreaming.
