About

This is a blog about my attempts to be creative, and I would like to think of it as a sketchbook of experiments and ideas – the good, the bad and the ugly. I am a natural hermit married to a natural adventurer and we have two beautiful children, and I love spending time with my family.

I am fascinated by mythology, folk lore and folk culture, by museums and heritage, by art history and by contemporary art and by cultures from across the world. I love books and films and photography and theatre and music.

I am a fan of science fiction and fantasy, and I have in the past been a keen RPG gamer. I used to practise the martial art kendo and I am an enthusiastic, although limited, accordionist, pianist and fiddle player. I have travelled a little. I am a big fan of EastEnders, which in it’s entirety I consider to be the great British artwork.

I was born in Ireland and have lived in Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset, Kent, London and Suffolk, and I love landscapes and cityscapes of all kinds. These are some of the important things to me in my life, and I hope that they come across at least a little in my work.
