This lovely old fellow is inspired by the Puck Fair, a celebration that takes place every year in Kilorglin in Kerry. A mountain goat is captured and brought into the town to be crowned king, and hoisted up in a cage to preside over the celebrations. He’s well looked after as far as I can tell, and the year we went he did seem perfectly happy munching away up in his cage.

His air of nonchalant happiness stuck with me, and that’s what I tried to capture in this picture. I know it’s unfinished but I thought I might spoil it if I try and draw the cushion he’s sitting on or any kind of background. Probably ought to finish his horns at some point though.
