Last year I created a series of little sculptures of monstrous Scarecrows, using Super Sculpey polymer clay, and I’ve had a couple of blocks of the stuff sat on the shelf since Christmas 2022, so I’ve finally decided to try and make some new figures.

I can’t seem to shift the farmyard theme, because it appears that I’m now making pigs. It wasn’t really intentional, I just started making a humanoid figure and it somehow became a pig. I quite like the idea of limiting myself to three little piggies.

I also can’t really explain what he’s doing or why he’s naked, or why his limbs are somewhat disproportionate. Perhaps it’s an exploration of the wild animal in all of us. Most of it just felt quite funny at the time. I’m sure it reveals all kinds of strange subconscious activity, but at the end of the day he seems like a jolly little character and I’m quite happy with him.
