The Muses

I’m absolutely delighted and shocked to have had my work accepted into an open call exhibition! The exhibition is based on the theme Un/Seen and is being curated by local curator Millie Lake at Boscombe’s Old School House (which is also where I do life drawing!) The exhibition runs from 31 October – 12 December.

These otherworldly figures represent little Muses that feed my creativity from the strange beauty of the natural world. They were made specifically to submit to the exhibition, and the thought process in terms of the theme of ‘Unseen’ was the idea of manifesting the unseen forces of the creative process.

They are shifting in form, maybe in the act of coming into being, or perhaps in a constant state of transformation. They are forest spirits, full of wicked delight, as happy it seems (in my experience) to withdraw inspiration as to gift it.

They are made from air dry clay, and various natural bits I’ve found on walks, and also a few plastic odds & ends.
