Now that Bonfire Night is out of the way I think it is perfectly acceptable to talk about Christmas. Here is a tune for the piano that I wrote before Christmas last year, called Christmas Eve Night. It is supposed to capture the feeling of the excitement before that last sleep.
On this night, magic is at its most powerful; spirits of light and warmth and generosity abound in the cold air; families are snuggled in together across the country, well-fed and well-rested before the hearth; the worst spite of the winter is over, and the first light of a newborn world is kindling.
Apologies for the poor quality of the recording and for the mistakes. The only recording I have of this was from my iphone when I was still composing it, and since then I no longer have a piano.
And just for fun, here are some of my snowman creations from the days when we actually got snow.
