Here are some quick sketches that I have done recently. I rediscovered a book of my dad’s called London A La Mode by Malcolm Muggeridge and Paul Hogarth. I have never actually read any of the words, the pictures by Paul Hogarth are just so brilliant. And I wanted to attempt to capture a degree of that looseness and energy.
Here is a nice post I found online about the book – https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/retroculturati.com/2018/10/08/london-a-la-mode/amp/
I don’t feel I have succeeded in my aim – my sketches are from photos and paintings I found online, I think maybe the energy and spirit comes from being in the real environment sketching. That will have to be the next step, although that’s pretty tricky at the moment with everything in lockdown.
What is such a delight about this whole process is discovering the endless possibilities of directions you could go in with your art. There is no limit
