I last tried making a snowglobe about a year ago (see Call of the Wild), and I’ve been wanting to do it again for a while, but never seemed to find the inspiration. With Christmas coming, I thought I’d give it another try. The initial intention was to create a series of these things, each with its own original fairytale story going on. I didn’t quite achieve it with the first, and I’ve done even worse this time.
It’s called The Vengeance of the Weather Mage.

The globe is a glass ornament I bought ages ago and can’t even remember from where (maybe Tiger?), the liquid is baby oil with a big pinch of glitter (too much in fact – turns out less is more with glitter) and the figure’s made of super sculpey and painted with acrylics. It’s sealed with hot glue and mounted in a chunk of wood.
One pretty significant problem I’ve encountered is that the oil seems to be seeping through the cork base, which hadn’t even occurred to me, so I may abandon this one or possibly seal it with glue.
The biggest issue however is that it doesn’t actually tell a story. I can’t make things small enough to fit more than one element in. Must think harder about this! I think we can classify this one a failure.
