I can’t bear how bad my self portrait illustration is that I attempted as part of an Introduction to Children’s Illustration course I’m doing on Domestika, so I had another stab at it. This one I think is even worse.

The course encourages you to create a playlist for your illustration – I’m not sure if this is with the aim of actually using it as inspiration for a specific project to develop over the duration of the course, or whether it’s just a suggested technique you can use to help think about mood. Anyway, I have created a playlist, and it is interesting that it has already suggested a setting and a story to me. This is it:
– The Main Title from the film Casanova (Nino Rota)
– La Valse Des Monstres from the film Amelie (Jann Tiersen)
– The Old Grey Goose, traditional Irish jig (performed here by Sean Maguire)
– Juan Loco (Rodrigo y Gabriela)
– Sean Nos singing (performed here by Treasa Ni Mhiollain)
– The Tempest Sonata by Beethoven (performed by Alexander Krichel)
– Spem in Alium by Thomas Tallis (performed by The Sixteen)
– Gra Agus Bas, by Donncha Dennehy
