It was recently our 6th wedding anniversary, the theme of which is apparently ‘iron’ although I have no idea who decides these things. My wife Laura bought me an encaustic wax kit (which comes with a little iron), so I’ve been giving it a bit of a go. I’m definitely not a natural, but it’s quite fun and very different from anything I’ve done before. You rub the wax on the warm iron and then push it around on the piece of card to make nice shapes and textures.

I can see how, with a lot more technical skill, you might try and tease a sort of Eric Ravilious-esque look out of this medium, and attempt to achieve an otherworldly English pastoral vibe.
