Hooligans of the Sky

The final creature in my Lumen Songs project is the humble Sea Gull, a familiar sight (and sound) where I live near the sea. The first version that I attempted looked rubbish (images at the bottom), so I ended up going for a slightly more dynamic silhouette – hopefully it effectively communicates ‘sea gull’.

I probably should have used sea weed for the plants rather than things from my garden. I’ll bear it in mind if I ever return to this project.

Giddy Hooligans of the salt-sprayed sky

Under cloud, over wave, flick, freak, fly,

scream, screech, scry-

Looking down with black and beady eye,

Lurking for chips, and nuggets, and scraps of pie.
