Rock Legend

Here’s a little update on my Mr Makapansgat puppet based on a stone found in a cave that had been occupied by very early pre-humans – believed to be the earliest recorded example of pareidolia, in which someone recognised the features of a face in something inanimate. This little dude has been fraternising with humanity (and our precursors) for 300,000 years and here he is still having a great time.

You can find an image of the Makapansgat pebble here, if you are so inclined.

Since last time I have cast his head in latex from a plaster mold, and have painted him. Admittedly he’s not a particularly visually exciting character but perhaps he’ll feel a bit more interesting once he has a body and clothes.
