I thought I’d have a go at making a Muppets-style foam puppet just for a bit of fun, although it isn’t really turning out to be what I had imagined.

I found a free puppet head pattern online, printed it out, and cut the pieces out of upholstery foam, which I then glued together with contact glue.

My foam was an inch thick, which I think is too thick, but it’s working just about OK at the moment, there’s just not that much room for my hand.

The thought of cutting fleece to the same pattern and sewing it together filled me with dread, and I had all my papier mache stuff out for another project, so I thought why not, and added layers of tissue to the head instead of felt.

I’m still working on it, clearly, but who knows, it may turn out to be quite fun.
