The ears on my last shrunken head were so hard to sculpt that I wanted to avoid having to do the same thing again.

For this latest head, I looked up images of mummified ears to see how they might deteriorate over time and I attempted to replicate that grotesque look, which I’m pretty pleased with, and even though they are probably pretty inaccurate from an anatomical point of view it seems fairly unlikely that there’ll be anyone expert enough to be really annoyed!

The clay I used ended up being a bit browner and more blended which does make the colour stand out a bit, but it kind of feels like the mushy brownness of a rotting apple, and i think it’s ok! They’re still not fully finished, but they’re not that far off.

I might do a project just drawing ears, as they really are quite a complicated shape.
