Congratulations to me on my five year bloggiversary! It has been a fun five years in the world of my imagination, perhaps less so in the outside world where everything seems a bit darker, scarier and more hateful. But, give us time, humans might yet learn to be nice to each other and to the planet.
Anyway, I took a look at my four year blog post, and I’m not entirely sure that I’ve grown much in a year, but it’s not like I’ve got a deadline to meet. What will year six bring I wonder? At the moment I feel like I am very much entering a creative slump. Things are getting a bit more intense at work, which always saps my creative energies.
But there is some glimmer of hope on the horizon.
I have an introduction to prosthetic makeup course to look forward to in January, and I have enjoyed doing some new things this past year, including more storytelling at work, so these will probably start to play a more significant role in my stuff.
I also have some simple film projects in mind. I studied Film Studies at Uni, and it feels like an artform that I have neglected, so I’m hoping to do a series of little mini-films, I guess as warmup exercises to maybe think about something a bit more ambitious. Let’s see if this actually happens…
I haven’t really prepared anything specific to illustrate this post. I had originally intended to make an Applehead Doll in honour of my first ever blog post, but time has not been on my side. Instead, here is a random picture in soft pastel that captures a small element of my current state of mind.
