Model making week 7: Architectural Models
This was a much, much more technical session that previous ones, and probably my least favourite – not because I didn’t get into it, but because it will take a hell of a lot longer to feel like I would be any good in this discipline.
The task was to make a model of a house out of grey card according to a pre-prepared design. I amended mine a little to have a curved wall, just because it felt like it needed some degree of creative interpretation! I didn’t complete it – this is how far I got with the sad little hovel:
And in various stages of development:
I would very much like to develop these skills though, to do something very cool, and here are four images that inspire me:
Factory Head, from the work of the amazing Forkbeard Fantasy.
Marc Hagan-Guirey’s work for the Decorex 13 campaign.
Zim and Zou’s Forest Folk window display project.
Malena Valcarcel’s beautiful Tree of Knowledge book sculpture.
