This is another Domestika course I’m juggling alongside the Pop Up Book one and the Surrealistic Illustration one – this one is called Introduction to Narrative Photography. I’ve always found it hard to find or develop ideas for photographic projects, and recently have mainly just taken snaps of the kids. Some of the things I’ve done in the past that I am quite proud of are Folk Noir, Family Album (but this is a photo manipulation project really), Cabinet of Angels and Polaroid Week, but these are few and far between, and I thought that this course would force me to actually get on and do something a bit more purposeful.
The first stage is to sketch up some ideas, which I’ve done here. The concept is pretty straightforward – it’ll be pictures of my four year old daughter in various places around the house, holding her doll, with no other people and a slight sense of mystery and a slight sense of menace. It’s called The Empty House, at least for now.
