Boghead

The next work for my Museum of the Macabre is a shrunken ancient Celtic head, lost in the bog, and shrivelled perhaps by magic or maybe by bog-water. Celtic mythology is full of beheadings, so it seemed like a fitting match of theme and object.

The head was sculpted in plasticine (I imagine there are much better clays, but that’s what I had) and then I made a plaster mold around it, and that’s the state it’s in at the moment, waiting for latex to be poured in. I’m not sure that this was the best way of doing it, as I now have to figure out how to fill the hollow head to make it solid. but the texture of latex feels like it will be right for the prop.
