I wondered if soft pastels might make for a distinctive if tricky medium for illustrations and gave it a go with this fox character sat beside a fire in the woods at night.

I am not hugely impressed and the pastels were really hard to work with because of their messiness. I got some new ones for christmas and they’re even softer than my old ones and really difficult to control.

Anyway, an interesting experiment and a challenge for me to set a character within a landscape. More improvement is needed…
