My drawing skills are not up to scratch, so I am trying to find a way to teach myself (it’s quite hard without someone telling me where I’m going wrong), so I have bought a book called Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, and am working my way through it.
These are pictures that I drew upside down. The idea is to train your eye to look at what’s actually in front of you instead of letting your brain make up what it thinks it sees.
It’s unbelievably tough but I’m quite pleased so far with these two images. They do take a very long time, which doesn’t suit my complete lack of patience, but this is clearly what I have not been doing over the last four years of my creative development, which is to really stop and look and see what is actually there.
